How to Clean Glass and Mirrors Without Streaks.

How to Clean Glass and Mirrors Without Streaks.

Streaky mirrors and windows are one of the most frustrating cleaning results — you put the effort in, and somehow they look worse than before. The good news: it's almost never the product that's the problem. It's technique.

Here's how to get perfectly clear, streak-free glass every time.

Why do streaks happen?

Streaks are caused by one of three things:

  • Residue from previous cleaners — particularly those containing wax or soap
  • Cleaning in direct sunlight — the product dries before you can wipe it away
  • The wrong cloth — paper towels and standard cloths leave fibres behind

What you need

  • A dedicated glass and mirror cleaner (avoid multipurpose sprays, which often leave residue)
  • Two microfibre cloths — one slightly damp, one completely dry
  • A well-lit room, out of direct sunlight

Our recommendation: 3 Brujas Glass and Mirror Cleaner 750ml is one of our bestsellers for good reason. The formula is designed specifically for glass surfaces and leaves a streak-free, crystal-clear finish without the need for rinsing.

Step-by-step: streak-free mirrors and windows

  1. Dust first. Use a dry microfibre cloth to remove surface dust. Spraying over dust just moves it around.
  2. Spray lightly. Two or three sprays are enough for a standard mirror. More product = more streaks.
  3. Wipe in a Z-pattern — top to bottom, overlapping slightly. This picks up product rather than pushing it to the edges.
  4. Buff immediately with your dry cloth using circular motions.
  5. Check in raking light (light coming from the side) to spot any remaining streaks and buff out.

For windows with heavy grime

On very dirty windows, do a first pass with a damp cloth to remove the bulk of the dirt, then apply your glass cleaner for the final clean. Skipping this step means your cleaner is working harder than it needs to.
