How to Use Concentrated Spanish Cleaners

🏠 Floor Cleaners

Spanish concentrated floor cleaners are highly effective at low dilution. Using too much product does not clean better — it increases the risk of sticky residue and streaks.

💡 Sticky residue? This is almost always caused by using too much product. Re-mop with plain warm water only. Going forward, increase the water ratio. No rinsing is required at correct dilution on sealed floors.

These are typically more alkaline or acid-based formulas designed to cut grease, limescale, and soap scum. Always check your label — some are ready-to-use (RTU), others are concentrated and must be diluted.

Rinsing

Food-contact surfaces (worktops, chopping boards, sink areas) must be rinsed with clean water after cleaning. Non-food surfaces (toilet, shower tray) generally do not require rinsing unless the label states otherwise.

If residue appears after cleaning

Residue — sticky, filmy, or white deposits — is nearly always the result of over-concentration, insufficient rinsing, or hard water. Steps to resolve:

  1. Re-clean the affected area with plain warm water only using a clean mop or cloth.
  2. If residue persists, add a small amount of white vinegar to the rinse water (not suitable for natural stone).
  3. Going forward, reduce the product quantity and ensure thorough rinsing on porous or semi-porous surfaces.

❓ Quick Questions

Can I use floor cleaner on my wooden floors? We do not recommend it. Most concentrated floor cleaners are water-based and can cause warping or dull the finish on untreated or unsealed wood.
Do I need to rinse after mopping? At the correct dilution ratio on sealed floors, rinsing is not typically required. If you used more product than directed, re-mop with plain water.
Can I mix two cleaning products together? No. Never mix different cleaning products. This can create harmful fumes or reduce effectiveness. Use one product at a time.
Is it safe to use bathroom cleaner on my kitchen worktop? Only if the label confirms food-safe use after rinsing. Always rinse food-contact surfaces thoroughly with clean water.
The scent is very strong — is that normal? Yes — concentrated Spanish cleaners are often highly fragranced. Ventilate the room during and after use. The scent dissipates as the product dries.
